Green Salad

Green salad is also know as 'Cos salad' and the best thing about it (other than its yummy crunchy goodness) is that you can basically put anything into it and it would still turn out great.
In my salad I only put lettuce, onions and soy bean sprouts since I still had an abundance left from my previous recipe.
Note: it is important to place the dressing at the bottom of the salad bowl and mix just before serving. Tossing the salad early on will cause the lettuce to wilt and sag- not pretty.

Ingredients:


8-10 leaves Romaine lettuce
1 Small red onion
1 handful soya bean sprouts
Dressing:
1/2 lemon, squeezed
1 tsp heaped dried basil
1/2 tsp dried garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/3 cup olive oil (or amount as to your preference)

Method:

Cut the onion in half and slice finely. Each individual piece should be almost transparent.

 Add all the ingredients for the dressing on top of the onions at the base of a salad bowl.
Chop, or shred with your hands the Romaine lettuce to whatever size you like. Throw on top of the onion, add the soya sprouts on top of the lettuce. The goal here is to place the heaviest vegetables first into the bowl so they don't weigh down on the lettuce.
Cover and set to the side until ready for serving.
